The Orthodox Christian Fellowship of Ball State University Presents: Byzantine Music: East, West, Universal - Past, Present and Future 7 PM Wednesday, 7 November 2012 Cardinal Hall C, Pittenger Student Center, Ball State University Special Guest Speaker: Richard Barrett Mr. Barrett holds a Bachelor of Music in vocal performance and a Master of Arts in Ancient History from Indiana University, where he will soon complete a doctorate. Byzantine chant is a living tradition of sacred music with roots in the earliest years of Christianity. Why has this style persisted so long? What makes it particularly expressive?

We have commissioned, are publishing, and will premiere and record in the 2016/17 concert season a collaborative setting of the Vesperal psalm from six different Orthodox composers:
